The owners of a cocker spaniel decided to record his reaction after surgery to restore his sight. The film showing the meeting with the closest members of the family is a moving sight not only for them, but also for all the Internet users whom it has touched. Although Olive, a black cocker spaniel, had never seen his owners before, he was well aware that they are his best friends and that he can count on their help every step of the way. The moment he gets to see them with his own eyes for the first time is heartbreaking.
Blind dog underwent surgery to regain sight
A female named Olive was adopted by Holly Emmerson and her husband Bart a long time ago. The couple were fully aware that the dog was suffering from severe vision problems caused by cataracts, which eventually led to him going completely blind. In the end, while he undoubtedly felt in good hands, he never saw his guardians again. However, this did not prevent a wonderful complicity between them.
The couple supported the animal and accepted it as it is, even though they never stopped looking for a solution to their health problems. Eventually, Holly and her husband discovered there was a chance the dog would regain her sight. For this to happen, the dog had to undergo an expensive operation.
When the owners of Olive managed to raise $5,000 to fully cover the cost of the procedure, the big day finally arrived. The spaniel was taken to a veterinary hospital for surgery. Fortunately, it went without any complications.
After many years, the spaniel saw its owners for the first time
The couple looked forward to the moment when they could finally meet their beloved pet. Holly decided that the moment Olive first saw them with her own eyes was important enough to be filmed.
The video begins as she and her husband head to the clinic, where the dog is waiting for them. Finally, after three years together, Olive gets to see Holly and Bart for himself. As soon as the guardians are in sight, the female dog runs towards them and happily wags her tail. She is visibly happy to see people whose faces she could only imagine before.
“It was an amazing moment to see her so alert and look us in the eye,” says Holly.
Thanks to the fact that the dog was finally able to admire the surrounding nature, Holly and Bart prepared another surprise for him in the form of a trip. The guards took the dog to several interesting places, and the spaniel watched with interest not only the passers-by, but also the landscapes. Everything seems to indicate that he was most impressed by the water tank, where they took one of the first walks after the operation.
