The Kalisz Animal Shelter received shocking reports about a dog tied to a pole. Also next to the dog was a note with information likely left by its owner. Its content is shocking and the sight of a terrified dog touches not only the hearts of animal lovers.
On February 2 this year in Kalisz (Greater Poland Voivodeship), passers-by noticed a dog tied to a tree. Kind-hearted people informed the competent institutions that took care of the abandoned animal. “A dog is a living and sensitive being”, launch the volunteers of the shelter where he was sent.

When news of the abandoned dog reached the Kalisz shelter, its representatives had no intention of standing idly by and witnessing its tragedy. There was also a note attached to the post with the leash the dog was tied with, the text of which spoke for itself.
– Take away – the note said.
On its social networks, Animalsi published photos of the animal as well as the message left by its former owner.
– A dog tied to a post, with a piece of paper wrapped in aluminum foil (so it doesn’t get wet, of course). Human wickedness knows no bounds… When will it end? – write volunteers.
There is no doubt that the owner decided to dispose of his animal in this shameful way, in complete disregard of his fate. The police also investigated the case. This behavior is punishable by animal cruelty.

At the moment, the dog is in mandatory quarantine. However, the shelter now offers the possibility of pre-booking an animal for adoption to anyone who would like to take care of it. Above all, the employees of the organization do not yet know what prompted the animal to be treated in this way. They will not find his character and his typical behavior.
– Come to your senses before deciding to acquire a dog, think a thousand times – thunders the organization.
The manager of the Kalisz homeless animal shelter does not hide that during the intervention to secure the dog and transport it to the shelter, the dog showed aggressive behavior.
But that doesn’t mean he’s aggressive by nature. For him, it was an unusual situation – underlines Jacek Jerzy Kołata in an interview with the site kalisz.naszemiasto.pl.
The abandoned dog is young, with no signs of hunger, no serious illness, no signs of physical abuse. However, not knowing his story considerably delays all the steps he must take before finding a new home.
– If we knew his health record, we might have shortened the quarantine and he could have been adopted faster, but now he will have to wait two weeks or more, because the police will decide if this dog will constitute security as evidence in the debates – says Kołata.
The organization also received footage from the surveillance, which shows the moment the dog is tied to the post. The evidence was handed over to the police. According to current law in Poland, abandoning a pet is considered abuse. The culprit is therefore liable to a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to two years.
