Hank is an 8-month-old dog who was abandoned in the middle of a forest with all his belongings. He had his bed, some toys and a bag of food when a kind person found him. The dog did not get up from his bed and remained motionless, his eyes full of sadness.
This person contacted a local rescue center, which quickly went to the dog’s whereabouts. Rescuers feared he might react aggressively, but Hank surprised everyone by remaining calm.
Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United, told The Dodo:
“He was nothing but love from the moment he was caught. Everyone says he’s the nicest dog.”
The dog is abandoned in the forest to his fate
After saving Hank, they took him straight to the vet, where they discovered he had a broken leg. The specialist said the injury was around two weeks old. That’s why Hank lay still in his bed in the woods; any movement caused too much pain.
With his surgery being expensive, the shelter sought help from Humans and Animals United, who immediately agreed and provided all the care needed for Hank’s recovery.
Hank will be spending a few days at the vet clinic before his surgery as he needs to be able to gain weight sooner, but that doesn’t matter to the dog as he gets lots of cuddles and attention from the staff.
Since her story was posted on the Humans and Animals United Facebook page, many people have applied to adopt the sweet dog, but Rosa said so far no one has been selected.
The rescuer finally added:
“He’s going to have a bit of a way to go before he’s fully adoptable. But now he’s safe and will never be hurt again.”
