Older pets often need their owners’ care more often as they enter the fall period of their lives. Unfortunately, the 11-year-old cat discovered the hard way that he can’t always be counted on. She only had three legs, so the staff at the shelter she went to were afraid no one would want to give her a loving home.

The senior cat landed on the sidewalk

A cat named Kalani showed up at a local shelter run by the Chat d’Oc association. After checking its condition, it turned out that the three-legged cat was not one of the youngest. According to information posted online, her owners stopped taking care of her, even though she was doing very well despite having three legs.

The volunteers who cared for the cat couldn’t accept the idea that people simply wanted to euthanize it because of its missing paw. The animal immediately made a positive impression on them. Although she was disappointed in her guardians, she was not completely alienated from others.

A three-legged cat was looking for someone who would love him

The staff of the shelter where the three-legged kitten came emphasize that the absence of a paw does not pose many problems for her. He moves completely normally, stays clean and even despite his adulthood, he has fun. It is difficult for them to understand why his guardians at the time abandoned their furry friend who had spent so many years with them.

One thing was certain, they did not intend to accept euthanasia as requested by his owners. They decided they would do anything to find him a new home. Kalani doesn’t get along with other cats, so she has to go to a home where she will be the only pet.

Kalani awaits adoption at the shelter

The cat is waiting at the shelter for a person who will love him as he is and give him a warm home where he will spend the rest of his days. She is spayed and dewormed, has a microchip and all vaccinations. No doubt, it will be a while before he can fully trust his new guardians after what happened to him.

The organization that takes care of him wants Kalani’s new owners to live in Paris or its surroundings. If for a long time no one is willing to offer them a permanent home, they will start looking for a foster family.
