Every year during the holidays, volunteers at the animal shelter in Cologne-Delbrรผck, Germany, hold a fundraiser in which they sell donated items to support their rescue work.
The initiative is led by the shelter’s mascot, Lupo.
As donations began to roll in this year, one gift in particular stood out.
He arrived at the shelter door in a box.
Upon opening the box, shelter staff found many lovely handmade gifts inside.
But there were also photos and notes.
โHello Lupo, my name is Robbie,โ the note said. โUnfortunately, I have already crossed the rainbow bridge. But I am forever in my mother’s heart. โI will send you a small package with some homemade items for your fundraiser. ยป
โThis is what my grandmother did,โ the note continues. โMy grandmother will be 91 in November and she loves crafts.โ
โWe hope to host a big fundraiser and raise money so you can continue to receive treats and make sure your friends are well taken care of,โ the note concludes. โI love you, Robbie, youโre in heaven.โ
Shelter staff never met Robbie or knew his family. It was a loving gift from strangers for their deceased beloved dog.
โWe almost cried when this very special package arrived,โ Sylvia said. โI was really touched.โ
Sylvia hopes that by sharing these acts of kindness and charity, she can inspire others to do the same for animal shelters and rescue groups in their communities.
Fortunately, there are many ways to help.
