There was a stray cat in the neighborhood. For a street animal, he looked rather chubby. The surprise of one of the residents was all the greater as the cat suddenly lost weight during the night.
“She went from pleasantly plump to surprisingly slim overnight,” says Mary Huckabee of Coastal Bend Cat Rescue (CBCR).
The man knew what that meant. The cat probably just gave birth to babies. He immediately goes in search of kittens. He walked around the neighborhood looking for any sign of the kittens.
“They were looking for a place to hang out and after a few days they found a nice puddle of hair on the porch.

The kittens had to be removed to the porch. The resident contacted Coastal Bend Cat Rescue (CBCR), a local rescue organization. He wanted to make sure that a new, better life awaited the cat family. While waiting for a foster home to be organized, he fed the animals and took care of them.
As soon as the foster family appeared on the horizon, he crawled out to the porch and pulled all the kittens out. All four cubs were rescued unharmed. The satisfied mother watched the rescue operation from afar, as if she was just waiting for this moment.
“Mom was very happy to be placed in foster care,” says CBCR’s Mary.
The mother cat was called Tuba, and her kittens were also named after wind instruments – Trombone (trombone), Trompette (trumpet), French Cor (horn) and Bugle (horn). The family immediately settled into the new environment. Tuba was delighted with the constantly refilled food bowl.
She approaches the bowl expectantly whenever her adoptive mother enters the room and demands a refill.

Tuba is a terrible talker and has opinions on many topics. She does not get carried away and if something does not suit her, she reacts immediately. He makes particularly loud comments when the food bowl is empty.
Four kittens, three cream and one ginger, started exploring their environment when they were three weeks old. Under the benevolent gaze of a loving mother, they learn things that will be useful to them in their independent life. The curious kittens never tire of the attention from Tuba and the humans who care for them.
“They’re super laid back and happy to be held and cuddled,” Mary says of the kittens.
A mother cat gives her children unconditional love. When she’s not caring for them, she deepens her bond with her human caretakers. She’s a real stickler – she follows her adoptive parents and taunts until they scratch her head.
Thanks to the help of a neighbor who took an interest in the plight of the cats and thanks to the foster family who took the furry group under their wing, the animals were given the chance to have a new life and better. They can now develop in the comfort of a host family and enjoy luxury.
