Since 2014, Bandit has been part of the Gwinnett Jail Dogs program, dreaming of finding a home forever. This program allows some inmates to help raise and train rescued dogs. Bandit joined many people in the program, but his special needs made it difficult to find accommodation. He had been adopted and returned at least 3 times because it was too much work, but in the end, this bad luck ended!

Bandit was paralyzed after treatment for heartworm when he was new to the program. He couldn’t move his hind legs, so the organization had to get him a special wheelchair. With this new wheelchair, he can run and play like any other dog. However, he still has special needs that many families cannot meet.

All of Bandit’s previous families loved him very much, but everyone felt that they couldn’t take care of him properly. However, Bandit eventually met a family who had no problems with his condition. In fact, they understood their needs better than anyone.

When Bandit met Darrell and Sue Rider, he became the luckiest dog in the world. The couple had been considering adopting Bandit since they first heard of him, but wanted to make sure they were ready to take responsibility.

Darrell felt a special bond with Bandit because they had something in common. Like Bandit, Darrell is paralyzed from waist to toe, and he has been since birth. In addition, he must also use a wheelchair to get around.

“When you look at Bandit, if he was human, it’s me,” said Darrell. “Going through what I experienced in my life, life was not easy, but it is enough to move on to something else. The things that I read about Bandit, the videos that we saw, he had the same mentality as me. ”

Since the couple’s home is already wheelchair accessible in Darrell, they thought it would be the perfect environment for Bandit. They wanted Bandit to feel welcome and show him that he is not alone.
