Opal is a beautiful 8-month-old dog who experiences the world in a totally different way. She was born blind and deaf, but that didn’t stop her from being sweet and expressive with the people she loves.
The pup was adopted by Christina Bray and her husband, Forrest Hutchings, after seeing her photos on social media from the Double J Dog Ranch, a Hauser, Idaho rescue group that cares for dogs with certain special needs.
The staff of this group were concerned that no one wanted Opal in their home due to her condition, but luckily that did not happen.
A blind and deaf dog welcomes dad with great joy

Recently, Opale’s parents shared a video on their Instagram account showing how she receives her father on a daily basis, delighted to feel him close again. It has become the most fun time of the day for the whole family.

Christina wrote:
“She waits in the front yard and waits to smell her car to find out how she can tell the difference because the neighboring cars stop and she doesn’t care. She then senses it and goes crazy. It’s very sweet.”

Although she is a blind and deaf dog, her other senses were heightened and she showed that she had a very noble heart.
Opal receives training through touch.

Forrest said:
“A few pats on the back and she sits down, and a pat on the shoulders and she lies down.”
