Bobi is a dog renowned for his longevity. He was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest dog in the world. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge just a few months ago, at the age of 31. At least that’s what we thought until now. Experts began to have doubts about whether Bobi’s age had been falsified. However, the owner of the record dog believes it is a conspiracy. An audit is underway on this subject.
Will the oldest dog in the world lose its title?
Bobi is one of the most famous, if not the most famous, representatives of the Portuguese guard dog breed. The dog became famous for its longevity. Its owner proved that the animal was born in 1992, thanks to which the animal was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest-lived dog in the world. He crossed the rainbow bridge a few months ago, at the age of 31.
Doubts about the reliability of evidence confirming Bobi’s surprising age only emerged after his death. As a result, the company responsible for maintaining the Guinness Book of Records suspended its decision to award Bobi the honorable title of the world’s oldest dog. Activities have been initiated to determine whether the animal actually died at the age of over 31 years.
Experts have doubts about the dog’s life expectancy
The average lifespan of Portuguese guard dogs is 12 to 14 years. Bobi’s unusual age was confirmed, among other things, by an entry in the Portuguese animal register maintained by the National Veterinary Association. So where did the doubts come from that led to the suspension of the decision to award Bobi the title of world’s oldest dog?
Many experienced and respected veterinarians, after making public the information that Bobi lived more than 31 years, did not hide that they found it hard to believe it. It turned out that the data kept by the National Veterinary Association might not be reliable. Specialists analyzing this case also began to have doubts about whether the archival photos of the dog were actually the same dog. Leonel Costa, the owner of Bobi, believes that this sudden change of decision, which was previously beyond doubt, is a conspiracy of specialists in veterinary medicine.

Is it a conspiracy by veterinarians to deprive Bobi of the title of oldest dog in the world?
Leonel does not hide that doubts about the age of his beloved pet aroused difficult emotions in him. He even revealed what he thought of the audit carried out on this subject:
“The elite of the veterinary world are trying to convince people that Bobi’s story is not true.”
The keeper of the famous Portuguese watchdog added that he suspected the cause of this turn of events. Bobi’s owner never hid the fact that his pet’s diet was based on products intended for humans and not based on dog food:
“Things would be different if I said I’ve been eating dog food for three decades.”
We look forward to the outcome of this case. Which side do you think is telling the truth?
