What the teenager saw was shocking, a heartless man driving a van in front of them threw a gray tabby cat out the window!
Before they could identify the license plate of the pickup truck, it quickly disappeared into traffic.
This boy jumps into traffic to save a cat thrown from a car
Without hesitation, Gavin jumped out of the car and started running towards the terrified feline that was between the other cars. At first, the young hero managed to deflect traffic to avoid getting run over.
Brown told Love Meow:
“In shock watching the cat slam the pavement and scurry all over the highway he ran to the overpass right by me and jumped on top of the overpass about to jump down.”
The kitten had ended up hanging on to the viaduct. That’s when he was able to grab it and drive it back to his mother’s car before he was hit.
As expected, Min was terribly scared of everything he went through because of his damn old owner. But despite being traumatized by the ordeal, he huddled in the arms of his savior, refusing to leave him.
Gavin and his mother decided to take him to the veterinary hospital. After being checked, the vet was able to verify that the kitten had lost its claws while desperately trying to hang on to the sidewalk, he also injured his back from falling from the van.
Despite this, otherwise he was physically fine and healthy, obviously the most painful thing for the feline was the immense fright he took on as he was on the verge of horrific death.
When the sad story of the kitten became known on social media, a Facebook user offered to cover the vet’s bill.
For all he had been through, Gavin and his mother decided to adopt him and name him Lucky and they introduced him to their dog, Rocko.
Mother and son still cannot believe how the driver of the van could have committed such an act of cruelty against such a helpless being. He could have had him adopted or left him in a safe place, but apparently he wanted to enjoy killing him that way.
Unfortunately, this vile form of cruelty is not new and occurs much more often than most realize on the roads; the worst part is that in most cases no one does anything to save the victim or report the abuser.
Share this story with a happy ending which also gives us a great example of compassion and action for an animal in need. We need more young heroes like Gavin in our society.
