On special dates, like Christmas, what really matters is being able to be surrounded by loved ones and share with them all the moments of harmony that happen with the family.
Carter Licata and her dog, Piper, would know the meaning of the previous sentence after the least expected happened, their 2-year-old pug was gone!
The love bond between Carter Licata and Piper is very strong, so it was an unpleasant experience.
A moving reunion between a boy and his lost pet
April Licata said to The Dodo:
The 2-year-old pug loves everyone in his family, but his bond with his brother is special. It was love at first sight for both of us.
Last November, when Carter’s mother April let Piper out to relieve herself, the unexpected happened. Calling back the dog, she did not come back as usual.
Immediately, the family began a tireless search throughout the neighborhood, on social media and various community groups. But over time, her hopes of finding her pet dwindled.
Avril said:
We were all wrong, the kids didn’t want Christmas decorations. Thanksgiving was dark.
Suddenly, a Facebook post from the Genesee County Animal Shelter – Batavia, NY was going to change everything. An anonymous person left a dog at the shelter that matched Piper’s characteristics.
Avril said:
My husband and I were going to dinner and, honestly, there was a cry of joy in the car. We were shocked and euphoric!
Reaching the shelter and seeing the alleged Piper approach with wagging her tail, they immediately realized it was her.
Carter was out of town, so they decided to keep everything a secret until the boy returned. Meanwhile, Piper was happy to be going home.
Until the day for the long-awaited reunion came the moment was just exciting, Carter seeing his pet, I couldn’t stand the cry of joy, on his side, Piper, he kept stirring the tail noticing the presence of his brother.
Carter’s mother recorded the touching encounter, watch the video here:
April wrote on Facebook:
My son loves his dog very much; he was sick while she was away and tonight he is sleeping next to her again. What a Christmas miracle for our family.
