He is a mix of German Shepherd and Border Collie breeds, and was adopted by Amanda Richter and her boyfriend Brad Ames, who made him feel loved since they first became part of their family.

After the attack on his mother, the dog found a family, but was later referred to the MacDonald Kennels rescue organization in Alberta, Canada, claiming he was too hyperactive.
