Heather Melanson and her fiancé were in for a big surprise when they moved into a new home, where they found an adorable orange-furred cat they named Carrot Cake. The cat did not seem very interested in interacting, but now he accepts the family and is practically one more member of it.
Melanson told The Dodo that the cat initially only used to walk around his patio and would not let them approach him, even to pet him.
They believe that at some point the cat had a home, but by staying so long he had only become used to freedom.
Cat accepts the family who moved into his house
Months after the move, Carrot Cake continued to avoid contact with the couple, but recently he showed a change in his attitude, walked back to the patio, and when Melanson held out his hand, he decided to move closer.
He gave me headbutts and I ran to get some wet food.
Since that time, Carrot Cake has returned daily in search of caresses and food. He even allowed Melanson to trim the tangled fur from his belly, as well as helping him stay tick and flea free.
Melanson is very happy about the beautiful relationship that is emerging with the feline, but he has taken everything in stride so as not to scare him away.
He has already entered our hallway, but he will not enter the house until his fleas have disappeared.
Carrot Cake is becoming a member of the family, who are undoubtedly interested in providing all the necessary care for him to have a happy life.
Although at first it seemed impossible to gain his trust, little by little, with a lot of love and patience, very good progress has been made.
We feel so special to have been chosen after such a long time. We love him and I think he loves us too.
