Semsema Mahmoud posted a series of photos on Facebook revealing her unexpected experience on a recent trip to the beach. The woman spotted a tabby cat on the sand with an expression that looked like a smile. The animal turned out to be a beach enthusiast! Imagine that you are walking by the sea. The waves gently caress your feet, which are immersed in grains of golden sand with each step. The sun is shining and it is pleasantly warm. At one point, a meow reaches your ears…
If you think that can’t be true, you are seriously mistaken. Although cats generally avoid bathing, some cats don’t mind watching the sea from a safe distance and playing in the “big sandbox”.
She first saw a cat on the beach
Semsema Mahmoud decided to spend the day at one of the picturesque beaches. To her surprise, she noticed a tabby cat resting on the sand with its owner.
Equipped with a harness and a leash, the purr sat on the sand, arousing the interest of those around him. The cat also had a beach deckchair at her disposal, on which she could lie down and shelter from the sun at any time.
However, the most interesting feature of the cat is that… she seemed to be smiling all the time! Mahmoud was so surprised by the animal’s facial expression that she decided to approach its owner and ask for the opportunity to immortalize it in photographs. During the conversation, she learned that this was the first time a woman had taken her pet to the beach, and the animal’s reaction indicated that he liked the place. The effects of the photo shoot can be admired below:
A cat’s smile means something different than you think
Cats are absolutely adorable, but we don’t always interpret their behavior the right way. Do cats really smile? The answer is no, they can’t smile – at least in the standard sense.
In the case of cats, they have the muscular ability to make facial expressions similar to smiling, but it is the constricting eye movements that are their true way of smiling. It may turn out that a smile-like expression on the face is actually a signal that he is simply overheating and trying to regulate his temperature.
