Peanut is a charming cat with a facial deformity who became a social media celebrity after being adopted by a kind-hearted young student. Sydney Benham, 20, who lives in Michigan (United States), found the 8-year-old feline at a local shelter and decided to adopt him after learning his story.
The cat was brought to the shelter after the death of its adoptive father. He was abandoned to his fate with 8 other cats.
Peanut has some disabilities, being deaf and partially blind, but he moves like any other cat. When Sydney put him up for adoption, she immediately knew he was made for her.

The young woman remembers that she was the only kitten to find herself homeless during her visit to the shelter, so she did not hesitate to offer her the home she needed.

Sydney explained:
“I was determined to get a cat that day. “I called my best friend and she and I and my roommate went to three or four shelters until we could find a cat, and we finally went to this local shelter and it was going to be the last one.”
The young woman says the shelter doesn’t know the cause of Peanut’s facial deformity, but they believe it could be a birth defect or an abnormality due to abuse when Peanut was a kitten.
The feline’s condition does not prevent him from enjoying good health or his daily life, and although the young woman had to make some adjustments when she brought him home, now everything is perfect.
Sydney added:
“The vet said he was healthy, the shape of his head didn’t affect him much. They think the lack of hearing and eyes is due to the shape of his head, but otherwise he is in pretty good health. “He had some issues when we first got him, we resolved them and he is doing great.”
And although at first Peanut didn’t get along very well with Sydney’s other cat, named Apollo, the felines are now good friends and enjoy spending time together.
Peanut is becoming more and more popular on social networks, especially TikTok. He even has a hilarious video where he is compared to various objects and animals because of his unique appearance.
