Duchess was hit by a car and was seriously injured. When she was taken to Texas Adobe Animal Hospital, they discovered she had a fractured jaw along with other complications.
Dr. Meyer decided not to give Duchess up, and although her chances of survival seemed slim, she was very strong and feisty.
Duchess remained in recovery for about a month with a feeding tube and medication. Throughout this time and until now, the kitten has been surrounded by lots of love and attention.
The cat with a broken jaw gets a beautiful smile
Crystal Tate, the Duchess’ adoptive mother told Love Meow:
“The day I met Duchess, her mouth was just starting to heal and the feeding tube had just been removed, she was very skinny…”
Crystal spent a lot of time with her, and when the doctors asked her if she could provide a home for her, this woman knew she was meant to, and days later ended up taking her home. .
For both of them, it was a very important transition.
Seeing Duchess smile is one of the most rewarding things for Crystal.
Crystal said:
“Now she’s grown so much and I couldn’t be prouder…She reminds me every day that every day is a gift and miracles do happen.”
Although she underwent surgery, Duchess’ jaw will remain crooked for the rest of her life, but that doesn’t stop her from showing off her amazing personality.
