Sam seemed angry and sad because of her unique appearance, but she met Kate and their lives changed forever.
A cat named Sam was across the country in Tucson, Arizona when Kate Perillo found her photos online. The unique-looking Siamese looked either sad or angry, and Kate couldn’t get the image out of her head.
Sam seemed to have larger lips than the other cats and her eyes looked crossed. She was found by Poet Square Cats on the streets, living with a colony of feral cats.
Sam suffered from feline eosinophilic granuloma complex, which is characterized by local inflammation, with lesions involving the skin, oral cavity and mucocutaneous junctions of cats. In Sam’s case, the condition caused his mouth to swell.
Cat with unique look changes when he meets his new mom
Kate and her mother grew up with Siamese cats, the last of whom died in 2015, then after the loss of her mother in 2017, so the woman felt it was time to adopt. That’s when Kate saw her photos on social media and knew she had to go wherever she was, so she flew out from Massachusetts to see the cat.
Kate told The Dodo:
I’m not really a superstitious person, but I’ve always thought adopting a pet should feel good. And when I saw Sam’s picture, I had this feeling!
It took two months for Sam to recover, and now she looks like a whole new cat, and with a different look on her face. She needed steroid injections, an antibiotic, and because she was now an indoor cat, her mouth healed nicely. She’s lost about three front teeth, which she doesn’t mind.
Kate added:
It took me a few years to feel ready to start a new chapter with a new four-legged friend. Seeing Sam’s goofy face [in the photos] made me realize that the time had come. absolutely love it.
For Sam, meeting Kate also meant the world. She feels better than ever, finding a forever mom. She loves feeling the sunlight on her face from the balcony and watching the birds from the window, and she is a very cheerful and playful cat.
Sam is very smart and lets Kate know what she wants.
Kate said:
If she wants you to wave the feather wand, she meows, guides you to the wand, then uses her two paws to grab it and lift it by the handle, showing exactly what she wants you to do.
Now Sam is living the life she deserves, in the company of Kate, who adores her more than anything.
She finally said:
They say pets are good for you, especially for your mental health, and I can confirm that’s true for me. After my mum died, having Sam is also a small way to keep my mum going. urge.
