The black and white cat stood patiently outside the building door for two days. After losing her home, she hoped someone would let her in for warmth, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the cat suffered a completely different fate. Did she manage to stay anywhere longer?
The cat was waiting outside the building door. The resident decided to help
When a resident of the building noticed a black and white cat waiting outside the door for another day, he decided to contact employees of the Little Wanderers NYC organization. It turned out that the animal had been abandoned and was trying to find its way home.
“She “knocked” on the door, but no one let her in. She stayed outside for two days,” said a Little Wanderers NYC employee quoted by the site “lovemeow.com”.
When the volunteer learned of the cat’s dramatic situation, she decided to go there immediately. Fortunately, the animal was accompanied by a resident who wanted to make sure nothing happened to it until the services arrived.
The cat showed its gratitude for the rescue. However, she felt uncomfortable in her new home
Once there, the volunteer placed a carrier in front of the cat. Interestingly, it didn’t take long to convince her to come in as she wasn’t scared at all. Once she was safe, the Little Wanderers NYC employee took her to the vet to make sure she was okay.
“She waited to reach out to him, even though she was shy. She allowed me to pet her in the carrier and at the vet. It was obvious that she needed a loving and safe corner that she could call her own” – said the volunteer in an interview with “lovemeow.com”.
Due to the circumstances in which she was found, the cat was given the working name “Toc-toc”. Little Wanderers NYC took care of her and gave her a home with a foster family. The way she started to behave towards the elderly couple who hosted her turned out to be a big surprise.
The character of the rescued cat changed 180 degrees
At first, the cat tried to explore the place where it was. She was shy and reserved, and for a while it was difficult for her to orient herself in the new situation. Her safe hiding place was the narrow space between the wall and the litter box. The cat needed a lot of attention and patience, but his strong character allowed him to adapt quickly to his new place.
“She opened up enough for us to see some of her sweet personality,” her guardian revealed.
It didn’t take long for the cat to adapt to her new owners and named herself Willow. The couple who took her wake up every morning to her breakfast meowing and demanding. He has his favorite toys and a cozy spot by the window, where he can watch what’s going on outside and bask in the sun. No one suspected that this suspicious animal would turn into such a pet! Fortunately, thanks to the help of Little Wanderers NYC and the goodwill of his guardians, this was possible.
