This couple adopts dogs at the end of their lives, providing them with unconditional love and a home during their final years.

Monkey’s House Dog Hospice and Sanctuary was a dream come true for Michele and Jeff Allen; an incredible couple who for more than a decade have been dedicated to the care of senior dogs, who need special care and lots of love during their last days of life.

In this couple’s house, the dogs have no limits, they can roam every corner of their house in search of the caresses of the nearly 50 volunteers of the sanctuary, at the same time as they can explore the 6 hectares that the property extends.

Inside the sanctuary, the dogs receive daily homemade food and have frequent visits to the vet, this is due to the fact that many residents are blind, deaf or have other problems; such as severe heart murmurs.

Of course, taking care of so many dogs with special needs is not an easy task, but every task is done with lots of love and, at the same time, rewarded with lots of wagging tails.

Michele says shelters often don’t have the budget to care for older dogs, so they often get requests from these rescue centers for the sanctuary to provide them with a better quality of life.

Although dogs suffer from chronic or terminal illnesses, they too deserve to have an optimal quality of life, which is why the sanctuary ensures that all of their dogs are treated with love for the rest of their lives.

Without their work, many of these dogs would die in shelters not knowing how wonderful life is in a loving home.

Happy pets

Treating dogs’ special health conditions is very expensive, and the sanctuary depends on the donations they receive.
