Dave Coughlin has taken advantage of the time in confinement to do some crafts and set out to do some projects at home. The man built a fort for his little son, who enjoys looking out the window with Lucy, his 6-year-old Golden retriever.
Connor has always been fascinated by seeing trucks and motorcycles from the window next to Lucy, but the little boy is not as tall as her, which makes it difficult for him to take advantage of the view next to her friend.
Dave told The Dodo:
He has a plush chair that he uses as a stool so he just looks out the window, but I always felt bad because he didn’t have a good view.
Boy has a Fort to see through the window next to his dog
With the time that he has free, Dave decided to make something special for Connor that makes it easier for him to take advantage of the view.
The father commented:
The boredom of COVID is real and I love random home improvement projects. It was something that came to mind one day.
The father started his project, bought wood and worked hard for four days building the fort. When he finished it, he really looked great.
Dave remembers:
In retrospect, I was lucky that it turned out well. I kept adding randomly: the top of the handrail, the base molding. My wife told me to stop after a few days and she will let [Connor] play with it.
Initially Connor had difficulty with the steps, but in no time it was very easy for him and he was running alongside Lucy to take advantage of the view of the neighborhood. The dog loves spending time with the little one.
Dave added:
Every time Connor hears a horn or a motorcycle, he gets very excited and runs up the steps. Lucy is obsessed with squirrels or any guest, so when he ran, we tricked her into thinking there was a squirrel.
Lucy seems very happy to share her window with Connor, she is really sweet and they have been together since the little one was born, he really is her best friend.
