It was a normal Saturday afternoon for Abu Fathiyyaturahma Menk Abdun Mujtahid. The 36-year-old man from Sabah, Malaysia, was heading to the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex, where he was training, when he saw a small creature trapped in a drain. At first, he did not realize what it could be, but in a second check he was sure a kitten was fighting for his life. It was when Abu knew he had to do something.

Despite “not having the use of his legs”, the brave man just got out of his wheelchair and headed straight for the drain and pulled out the poor creature. The whole scene was filmed by a friend of Abu, also disabled, reports the MNN News.

“We saw the kitten trapped and we knew we could not leave it. I decided to save the kitten myself because it would be more dangerous for my friend who uses prostheses, “Abu told local media. “The banks of the drain were steep parts and it was not flat, so it was difficult. But I’m glad we can help the cat. ”

Abu said he was extremely proud and happy to help the kitten. And in the end, he even joked about it saying, “I hope the kitten has learned his lesson and remains safe from danger.”
