Remus is a charming 10-year-old pit bull who was adopted by his parents 6 years ago from the Flagler Humane Society. The dog has never been around children, he is quite spoiled and enjoys being the center of attention. But since his new human brother came into the family, every time he hears his cry, Remus brings Mom just what she needs to help.
Remus had a very difficult past before arriving with his current family, but he managed to recover from past experiences thanks to the love of his parents. When Remus’s mother, Liz Graffagnino Taft, and her husband brought their baby home from the hospital, they had no idea how Remus would react, but everything turned out better than they could imagine.
Liz told The Dodo:
“He was used for dogfighting and brought to the shelter when his owner went to jail. He was adopted twice and returned to that shelter twice for being ‘too clingy’ before we caught him. “

Liz focused on helping Remus overcome his fear and separation anxiety, as well as reactivity with other dogs. He had a lot of trauma due to the life he led before. It was a work of months, but she was sure it was worth every minute, and Remus gradually transformed into a sweet and very caring boy.

When the family returned from the hospital with the new baby, they were somewhat anxious about the reaction Remus might have, but the meeting was perfect. The Pitbull adored his sister from the first moment.
Liz remembers:
“We were very cautious at the beginning because he is very big. So he met her through the door and he just licked her through and he was surprisingly calm. He immediately knew that he had to be careful with her.”

Remus was immediately captivated by his new sister, and recently decided to take on new responsibilities to help care for the baby. So when his mom is trying to comfort his little sister, the lovely boy takes the special pillow to breastfeed whenever he hears the baby cry.
Liz added:
“He lies at my feet every time I breastfeed him and licks the back of his head when he cries.”
Remus’s mother recounts:
“Every time he cries, we grab the pillow and take care of it and he stops crying. She was having a breakdown just before and cried for several minutes. The pillow was all the way up on the bed and he ran up, grabbed it, and ran down. He seems that now, he has associated that pillow with which she no longer cries “.

All the experience and the path that Liz has traveled with Remus inspired her to become a certified specialist in canine behavior, and now she has her own training business where she helps other furry ones to overcome their behavior problems. her.
