In September, Abby was rescued from the streets. Poor and fragile, he was looking for food to survive. Apparently, this older dog, 10-12 years old, had lost most of his fur, a sight so heartbreaking that it looked like animal control didn’t know how to handle it. However, they realized something more needed to be done for Abby; something beyond his current abilities.
When they contacted the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, her rescuers immediately realized the pooch was just waiting for a little love and attention to bring out her true beauty.
His rescuers were stunned by the sad state he was in. It seemed impossible that she could have endured such misery alone. The elderly dog had ear and skin infections, a broken hind leg and numerous other conditions requiring medical attention.

Abby’s new friends immediately recognized the struggles she had been facing for some time and took proactive steps to put her on the path to recovery.
They applied daily shampoos and medicines to get rid of skin infections and treat ear infections. And of course, she received a lot of love and care during this time, Sarrah Walton, who works at the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, told The Dodo.
Despite various treatments and even surgery, the results for Abby have been incredible. He is now much healthier than when he arrived and his appearance has changed beyond recognition.
When Abby was discovered, she looked more like a rag doll than a dog, but look at her now! She has become a happy little dog who loves life. Her rescuers are truly amazed at how far she has come and couldn’t be happier for her.
Abby is nearing the end of her treatment and will soon be ready for a family that can provide her with a loving and lasting home. Her progress has been incredible and it’s clear that everyone around her is eager to see Abby finally experience true fulfillment in life.
