Socorro Jaramillo rescued Willow as a 2-month-old puppy in January 2020. Then the dog came to a home where she would meet cat Klaus, and a 9-year-old chihuahua named Spike, who would become his brothers. Shortly after being home and sharing with her siblings, Willow began mimicking their behavior.
Socorro told The Dodo:
“After about a week of living together full time, we started noticing Willow was copying Klaus and Spike’s habits. the first few times [Willow] got up to be with her siblings, it was a struggle, and we had to help her down, but after a little practice, she was able to get up and down on its own with no problem.”
The dog has always been known to be very curious and to have a pleasant character. She is very fond of everyone she meets, and she especially loves her family and siblings. Willow became very attached to her brother Percy, who was adopted months later. She always wants to do everything he does.
Dog grew up with cats and thinks she’s a cat too
If Percy climbs to the window to look outside for a moment, the dog follows him, even snuggling up on the sofa, and can be seen climbing all over the house. It’s as if she was unaware of the difference in species and size and believed that they were the same.
Relief said:
“They would run around the house together and [Percy] would sit on the little cat tree to get his waist. Eventually [Willow] started trying to get along with him.”
Although at first Socorro did not understand Willow’s way of acting, over the years she has accepted that her dog is so special, and she is very happy that her animals are so affectionate and get along. so good.
She added:
“I think of her as a giant baby. She follows us everywhere we go in the house and almost always has to be on top of us. She loves humans with all her being and is constantly moving every time she meets a new person.”
Willow is happy to belong to this family, and her love for them is so great that she does not understand that Percy is a small feline and that she is a huge pit bull. What matters to her is friendship, which transcends all barriers.
