A German Shorthaired Pointer named Pepe has taken the internet by storm with his hilarious determination to claim the front seat of his owner’s car. In a video shared by his owner, Jane Watkins, on TikTok (@jane.ashley1), Pepe can be seen stubbornly occupying the front passenger seat despite his owner Frank Watkins’ repeated attempts to convince her to sit in the back.
Initially placed on her dog mat in the back seat, Pepe wasted no time in climbing into the front as soon as Frank closed the back door. By the time he tried to get into the passenger seat, she had already settled in, turning away as if ignoring his pleas. Jane, from New Zealand, couldn’t hold back her laughter as she watched from the driver’s seat as Frank tried to gently push Pepe aside, but she found herself holding on tight.
Jane shared with Newsweek that Pepe has a notoriously stubborn personality. “Once she decided that was her seat, there was no moving her,” she explained. Since it was a short trip, Frank decided to just slide in next to her, even strapping them both in to keep them safe.
The video, captioned “That’s her seat now,” quickly went viral, racking up over 153,400 views and 10,700 likes on TikTok, with social media users loving Pepe’s strong will and “passenger princess” attitude.
“Pepe always tries to sit in the front,” Jane shared. “She tends to look away if she doesn’t want to do something, like a teenager who refuses to move.” Jane even jokingly suggested that Frank take the back seat, but he insisted they could share.
Pepe’s personality has made her a regular feature in Jane’s TikTok videos, where followers have fallen in love with her expressive reactions and funny, “moody” demeanor. “She’s more like a human than a dog,” Jane noted. “She even rolls her eyes sometimes when she doesn’t get her way.”
Comments on the video poured in, with one fan saying, “She’s the ultimate passenger princess,” while another joked, “She looks like she called the shotgun!”
Pepe’s antics and insistence on having the best seat in the car have made her a standout among TikTok’s beloved pets.
