In Teluk Intan, Malaysia, a dog surprised all the local media after alerting her family to a fire. The events occurred at dawn on Wednesday, June 23, while the family of five was sleeping comfortably at home.
The dog named Anandaveli, was restless and her good sense of smell alarmed her about something that was not right, and she decided to tell her mother Vimala; she tried to wake her up by nibbling on her pajamas and licking her face, but she didn’t react.
The woman did not see any problem, so she decided to continue sleeping, so Anandaveli decided to pull her hair from her, but again her efforts were not fruitful.
Little dog saves her family from a fire
However, the dog did not give up and continued to bite his face and even his ear, also continued to pull on his pajamas insistently, and Vimala thought that her dog was thirsty, so he scolded her and sent him to get water for herself so as not to interrupt her sleep.
But noticing that the sweet dog kept insisting on picking her up, she got up and could see that a section of her house was on fire.
Vimala said, according to Malay Mail:
I told him to fetch water from the kitchen, but when he kept pulling on my clothes, I got up and saw that the central section of my house, which housed the prayer altar, was on fire.
Seeing this terrible scene, the woman jumped out of bed and began to scream to alert her entire family to what was happening. She woke up her three children and immediately gave them the order to run out of the house so they could save their lives.
Her husband, Marimuthu Naidu, 58, was still in her room because he was unable to move after suffering a stroke. But Vimala’s youngest son risked his life to help his father and was able to rescue him after going through the burning house.
All the family members eventually evacuated the house without any problem, but sadly the whole house burned down.
Several fire trucks drove to Eastern Garden to tend to the fierce blaze and managed to contain the flames around 6 am.
Needless to say, the entire family was grateful for the heroic act of Anandaveli, who suffered some burns, but received adequate care.
The woman commented that Anandaveli had a difficult start in her life and she barely survived, but she bottle-fed her to save her.
Vimala added:
I took care of her until she recovered her health. I even gave him a bottle.
Thanks to the incredible heroic act of the dog, a local politician, Terence Naidu, learned about the family’s history and made a commitment to help them. So far, he has helped them with supplies and financially, but Terence’s main purpose is to be able to rebuild the entirety of his home.
Anandaveli became very popular, and because of this many people are helping financially to raise the costs of rebuilding the house. After visiting the family, Terence realized a curious causality, it turns out that he had studied with Vimala many years ago.
The family is very happy and pledged to donate the remaining funds to the animal shelters.
Terence praised the courage of Anandaveli and urged all people to take care of animals.
The family is staying at Vimala’s mother’s house, but they hope that soon her house will be ready and they can return to her.
Without a doubt, Anandaveli will always be recognized for saving her beloved family and they will thank her forever.
