A family had to quickly evacuate their home after the terrible Camp Fire wildfire, and their two puppies Miguel and Madison got lost. Fortunately, Miguel was found in a shelter and almost a month later Madison was found guarding the ruins of her home.

Madison is a brave survivor of the massive Camp Fire wildfire that swept through California. He was found guarding the ruins of what used to be his home in the town of Paradise almost a month after this natural disaster struck.

Andrea Gaylord is Madison’s mother and she was forced to leave him behind with her other puppy named Miguel. Her evacuation orders prevented him from returning to search for her.

Fortunately, Miguel was found in a shelter 85 miles away, and thanks to this the woman was certain that Madison had also survived the fire.

Andrea asked a rescuer named Shayla Sullivan for help to find Madison, and she requested a garment of hers so that he could smell the scent and hope that one day they would return to her rescue.

The strategy worked and Madison was found days later. Sullivan said the dog was concerned and kept his distance from her. She fed him until he could reconnect with his mother.

Sullivan said:

“I am happy to report that Andrea (the owner) had permission to return to her property and that when they got there, Madison was waiting for her. She protected what was left of her home and never gave up. I cry with joy as I write this. The dog never gave up despite encountering firestorms. For Madison it was a very long month. “

Andrea on the part of her told the ABC10 news station:

“Imagine the loyalty of keeping you in the worst of circumstances and being here waiting.”

Madison’s story has touched thousands of people around the world and was originally shared by the K9 Paw Print Rescue organization through Facebook.

The organization wrote:

“At first, they were devastated that they had to leave without Madison, so they had no choice but to ask that she be okay. When authorities finally gave them permission to return to their home, they found their dog waiting for them. It was as if Madison continued to take care of the place where her home once was, she never gave up! “

The California Camp Fire started on November 8 and wiped out more than 150,000 acres of land. Thousands of people like Andrea had to flee their homes leaving everything behind while hundreds of firefighters tried to control the flames.

By spreading this story, we also try to give hope to all the families who lost their pets during the evacuation orders. Don’t give up, they are probably waiting for you somewhere like Madison did with her family.
