A worried dog leads dad to an abandoned kitten and insists on taking him home to help.
Zach Hearn thought his family was complete, but he didn’t count on the fact that his dogs, Tang and Cream, had other plans to change his mind. While walking through their neighborhood earlier this month, the dogs heard a small animal screaming for help.
The meows didn’t stop and, although they were heard from afar, the two dogs, a golden retriever and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, ran to the rescue and started looking for what it was.
Zach told The Dodo:
Tang and Cream suddenly stopped and looked puzzled. A meow could be heard a little further away, so they both ran to investigate.
A dog takes his father to a homeless kitten
Zach didn’t know where the noise was coming from, but his dogs managed to spot a small kitten, about 4 weeks old, lying in the middle of the street. She was dirty, malnourished and had no feline mother in sight, so she needed help.
At the time, the man feared his dogs would chase the kitten, but they knew exactly what to do. They both started comforting the little girl and letting her know that everything would be fine, which surprised Zach.
He commented:
“Tang started moaning and lay down next to her. The cream started licking and cleaning him.”
Zach knew he couldn’t leave the kitten there and at the insistence of one of his dogs, he decided to take her home.
At home, he and his girlfriend arranged a comfortable place for him to rest, then gave him a bath and food. It was obvious that the kitten had been wandering the streets alone for a long time, but soon he would regain his full energy and begin to thrive.
Zak added:
“We decided to call it 头奖 (Tou Jiang), which means jackpot. At first, I didn’t have much energy and slept a lot. But after feeding her regularly and sleeping in a warm place, she recovered.”
Ever since they found Tou Jiang on the street, the dogs fell in love with her and started playing the role of parents. No one leaves her and they are always waiting to give her whatever she needs, be it comfort, cuddles or a tongue bath.
Although each dog has their own parenting style to raise the kitten, both achieve the same goal and take good care of her.
On the one hand, Tang is calm and relaxed, even the kitten climbs on his back and plays with his tail, and he stays in bed watching. Cream, on the other hand, is different because she behaves more like a mother and always wants to be by her side to protect her.
Having a kitten in the family hasn’t been easy, but thanks to the love and joy Tou Jang brings, her adoptive parents are happy.
