Dibs was 6 months old and lived on the streets, but he met his future father, Nate Troy, in a parking lot. The kitten decided he wanted to go home with Nate, so he got in his car. Despite being allergic to cats, Nate knew he couldn’t say no to this gorgeous kitty.
Sara Stromseth-Troy, Dibs’ mother, told The Dodo:
“Nate has a severe dander allergy but knew Dibs had chosen him to be his human.”
The family brings snow to the cat to play in it
To help Dibs adjust to an indoor life and deal with his father’s allergies, his family let him be an indoor/outdoor cat when they first adopted him, discovering the Dibs’ intense love for snow.
“That first winter, Dibs played outside in the snow for hours, frolicking, jumping and having fun like never before. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Over time, the family kept Dibs indoors at all times where he would be safe, but they still wanted to find a way for him to enjoy his beloved snow, so they had the best idea: bring the snow inside.
After a heavy snowfall, Troy picked up a snow shovel and walked in with it, and as soon as Dibs saw him, he was overjoyed.
Dibs mewed in delight until his dad threw the snow on the floor of his screened porch, where he immediately started playing in it, very excited to play in the snow again.
Since then, every time it snows, Dibs’ family make sure to bring some inside for him, and he gets excited again.
“He always gets excited when he sees the snow shovel and we yell, ‘Dibs…Snow!'” He meows at us and runs out onto the porch every time.
Dibs loves his family so much and they love him all the same, and they are always happy to do whatever they can to make him happy.
