Any animal lover is likely to go out of their way to get their dream animal, and a family that camped out for 27 hours to adopt a dog with a special chest mark is a good example.
In Oklahoma, the Broken Arrow animal shelter posted a photo of a Border Collie dog with the shape of a heart on his chest. The shelter usually shares several photos and videos of the animals that are available for adoption so people can get to know them.
What they never imagined was that the photos of the dog with the beautiful mark on his chest would cause such a stir on social media.
Family campsite to adopt a dog
The Facebook photo has been shared over 27,000 times and users have made thousands of comments, writing what they think. In fact, the dog is very beautiful, so many people, knowing his story, wanted to adopt him and give him a permanent home.
In addition, in different social networks, the interest of possible adopters could be noticed, among which the family of Oklahoma, complicating the adoption a little.
Ever since they first saw her, they knew she was the perfect dog to adopt and they had completely fallen in love with her. The problem was that the shelter was doing the adoption process on a first-come, first-served basis, so they had to try harder to be able to adopt her.
The animal rescue center has a policy of keeping animals rescued from the streets for at least five days, before being adopted. But the family wanted to adopt him and were willing to do anything to make it happen, including waiting outside the shelter.
So, 27 hours before adoption day, they drove to the animal shelter and camped right outside the facility. The idea was that they could be the first to enter the center and thus apply for adoption.
Finally, adoption day arrived and, as expected, the family was the first at the door to enter the shelter.
As expected, Ryan Pendleton and his family did all the paperwork, brought the dog home, and named her Luna.
The shelter wrote in a Facebook post:
“This precious girl has touched the hearts of people across the United States and we are happy to announce that she has found her new home! Thank you to everyone who shared our post.”
People who were paying attention to what was going on with Luna were quick to show their joy and commented on the post with well wishes. The shelter staff are very happy that Luna has been adopted, but they don’t want them to forget that there are a lot of animals waiting for homes.
