Ace is a cat who was rescued from the streets and lost one of his eyes due to an infection. Although that fact has never slowed or diminished his enthusiasm for life, Ace’s outward appearance has made him a cat “misunderstood” by some new people he meets.
Ace is incredibly sweet, but that doesn’t stop people from hesitating to say hello to him.
His mother, Norma Maikovich told The Dodo:
He can sometimes seem scary, especially to children. People often hesitate to greet him.
Family discovers a boy visiting his cat
But very soon Norma learned that clearly this was not the case for everyone.
Ace spends his days lounging on the porch of his house, so as a precaution, Norma set up a security camera to keep an eye on him. But what she could never have guessed is the beautiful friendship that the camera would capture.
Norma said:
Looking at the images, we notice that a particular child tends to visit him almost every day.
Turns out, one kid has gotten into the routine of stopping and spending time with the “scary” cat, and Ace clearly adores him for it.
Here is a video of one of those beautiful visits:
Norma and her family were thrilled to learn that Ace had made a friend who sees him for who he really is.
Norma said:
Our hearts melted, not only seeing how much Ace loves this boy, but also how familiar they were with each other! Sitting by the front door, as soon as Ace sees his friend, he rushes over to greet him. It is incredible, this bond that they share.
In case the boy felt that he had to be concealed in his visits, Norma has informed him that he is welcome at any time.
She said:
A friend of Ace’s is a friend of ours. Once we realized they were friends, he made us very happy.
Ace is so happy, although some people may keep walking away from him for being different, they are the ones who will miss it. Because only those who see a little further, like this kind neighbor boy, are the ones who can enjoy the beauty of his soul.
Ace is a loving cat who will purr to anyone he meets.

When we first adopted Ace and Ramsey, we weren’t sure what their quality of life would be like. But six years later, seeing the pictures of Ace and his friend really proves that when given the opportunity to live, love and have a family, special needs animals are worth it too.
