After Sherry Lankston and her two children stumbled upon an article about Harvey, a crooked-smiling dog shared by the San Diego County Department of Animal Services, their lives were never the same.
Sherry told CBS8:
“I saw that goofy smile and knew we had to meet him. It’s been a few years since we’ve been able to visit our friends and favorite places in San Diego, so why not? Travel.”

Animal Welfare Officer Joy Ollinger wrote in the post:
“Harvey has a facial deformity that he doesn’t mind, but it gives him a cute smile. I think it makes him even more endearing.”
Joy attests that Harvey is an extremely sweet husky, who enjoys interacting with other dogs and practically salivates for treats!

Sherry lived in San Diego and was curious about how Harvey would interact with cats, dogs, and their children, so Joy replied that Harvey seemed to fit in perfectly with his surroundings, getting along well with other animals and enjoying himself. also suitable for children. .

Shortly after, Sherry posted on social media about her exciting road trip with the kids over winter break.
The woman wrote:
“Here we are. On our way to San Diego. Day 1 op meets #Harveythehusky. (Note: if he’s adopted before we get there…I’ll still be thrilled).”

Although the family’s journey was not easy, given the winter storm that hit Southern California, as well as the possibility of Harvey being adopted before she and her family got to San Diego, it all finally worked out when they met Harvey, and fell in love with him instantly. They were thrilled to bring their new companion home!
Through Harvey’s story, Joy shines a light on the great potential of shelter animals as companions and family members. There are countless amazing creatures waiting for their forever home in the paradises all around us.
