In Oakland, New Jersey, a beautiful dog helps save the life of its owner, Brian Myers, and is now being hailed as a hero after learning of his incredible and courageous story. Sadie is a 6-year-old German Shepherd, who was at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Shelter after her previous owner left her there.
Apparently, Sadie’s previous owner had to move and in his new house he couldn’t have her, so he dumped her. At the time, Sadie was very confused and nervous, she didn’t like strangers very much, which made it difficult to find a potential adopter.
Although he has shared with several dogs over his years, he initially barks at them, but after meeting them he forms a beautiful friendship.
Dog saves owner’s life
The shelter wrote on Facebook:
“Sadie is looking for a quieter adult home, without a lot of visitors, with someone who values her intelligence and loyalty.”
A few months ago, Brian met Sadie at the shelter, and although she was very nervous, she quickly formed a special bond with the man. Brian highly valued her intelligence and blindly believed in her loyalty, so he wanted to give her a second chance at life and adopted her.
The man welcomed him into his home, but he never thought Sadie would play such an important role in his life. Last week, Brian suffered a stroke and collapsed, at which time he only had Sadie for company at home.
The dog realized the event and decided to stay by his side; I licked his face to keep him awake and aware. But the really amazing thing is that she helped him crawl across the room to his cell phone, and he was able to make an emergency call.
Brian told CBS:
“I was sleeping and had to go to the bathroom at night. As soon as I stepped on the ground, I fell and hit the ground. I couldn’t get up. I just grabbed her by the neck and she started pulling her weight back. And with that, I was able to slip on the floor. Otherwise, he would probably still be here.”
The shelter wrote on Facebook:
Sadie was the only reason Brian could ask for help. This time Sadie gave Brian a second chance at life.”
Now the members of the shelter applaud Sadie for saving Brian’s life and further state that thanks to her intelligence, Brian is alive. The man is recovering satisfactorily in a rehab facility, while Sadie spends her days at home with her family.
They both miss each other a lot, and for this reason, they chat every night through video calls, and they look forward to the day when they can meet.
The Animal Rescue Center posted the incredible story on their social media to thank and pay tribute to Sadie. The post quickly went viral, attracting thousands of followers who were shocked by the story and left hundreds of comments and reactions.
Without a doubt, Sadie will always be remembered for saving her owner’s life and for demonstrating the importance of a pet in the home.
