It was a normal day for American Debbie Allen, who was traveling in her car on a busy highway, when she suddenly noticed several drivers starting to slow down for no apparent reason.

However, a few seconds later he realized what was happening: a German Shepherd had escaped from his house and, somewhat disoriented, had found himself in the middle of the road. Unfortunately, a person could not see him and ran over him, in front of which he simply ran away.

Clearly, Debbie wasn’t going to leave the poor dog in such danger, so she didn’t hesitate for a second to stop her vehicle to go and help him. “I saw a dog in the middle of the road and he was obviously limping, so I knew he had been run over,” he told WXYZ.

Later, the woman said she was going to meet a client at work that day, but “God had other plans for her.” When he got out and tried to walk towards the dog, all the drivers stopped, but the frightened little animal ran away.

Despite everything, he didn’t give up and chased him until he could take him and leave him protected on the side of the track. Fortunately, the Michigan State Police arrived soon after to help with the case. “I sat down with the dog, told him he was safe and asked him to look at me because he was looking for an escape route and I said ‘no, no, look at me, you’re safe,'” he said.

From what Allen saw, the German Shepherd was well fed, clean and behaved very politely, despite being scared at the time, so it was clear that he had recently left the custody of his owners.

The Humane Society also arrived on the scene, who were able to get him to safety and treat his injuries. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a microchip, so finding his family gets a bit more complicated, but they won’t give up. They have to collect them.

“I’m not a hero, just a human being,” Debbie concluded.
