In an act of heroic bravery, Samantha Rose Baldwin, known for her role in the Gossip Girl reboot, risked her life to save her 10-year-old tortoiseshell cat, Kitty, during the devastating Palisades wildfire in Los Angeles.
Instead of fleeing the inferno, Baldwin, 26, rushed to her Pacific Palisades apartment to save her feline companion. Her journey was fraught with obstacles, including bumper-to-bumper traffic caused by mass evacuations, the Daily Mail reports.
โWhat would normally be a 28-minute drive from West Hollywood turned into a two-and-a-half-hour nightmare,โ Baldwin said. With traffic at a standstill and her GPS predicting another two hours, she made a bold decision: She abandoned her car and fled on foot.
โI ran for about 15 minutes down Sunset Boulevard to get home,โ Baldwin said.

Meanwhile, her father, Michael, a security guard at a nearby elementary school, was busy helping students evacuate the building, which was later destroyed by the fire.
Once she arrived at her apartment, Baldwin faced another challenge: finding Kitty, who was terrified and hiding. After a tense 20-minute search, she discovered her cat hiding on the couch. Baldwin wrapped Kitty in a blanket, placed her in a cat carrier backpack, and prepared to leave.
However, the fire had spread, cutting off her path back to her car.

โThe fire was all around us. A gust of wind brought so much smoke I couldnโt see anything,โ Baldwin said.
Trapped between the fire and the ocean, Baldwin decided to head toward the water. With Kitty strapped to her back and a suitcase in tow, she raced through a minefield of burning debris and abandoned vehicles.
โIt was like a scene from an action movie, not like my real life,โ she said.
Eventually, Baldwin made it safely to the beach, where she was reunited with her father. Michael, having successfully evacuated the school, was now helping firefighters and directing evacuees.
โAs I was running, I called my mom and told her I loved her. I wasnโt sure I was going to make it,โ Baldwin shared.
Now staying with a friend in North Hollywood, Baldwin is focused on helping Kitty adjust after the traumatic ordeal. The resilient feline, no stranger to disaster, first came into Baldwinโs care after Hurricane Maria in 2017.
โThis is Kittyโs second natural disaster. Sheโs a survivor,โ Baldwin said.

Despite the pain, sore throat and exhaustion, Baldwin is grateful for their safety. โIโm so grateful to be alive and that my dad and Kitty are safe.โ
The Palisades Fire, fanned by Santa Ana winds, has ravaged Los Angeles, killing people and destroying thousands of buildings. As firefighters battle the blaze, Baldwinโs story is a testament to the courage and unbreakable bond between humans and their pets.
