groomer creative way help dogs relax

A groomer has discovered a creative way to make the process of grooming pets easier, thanks to a small homemade hammock.

Cutting the hair of our pets is not something that simple, and even in expert hands it can sometimes be a marathon task. Brit Johnson is a groomer with 11 years of experience grooming animals and has found a creative way to ease the process to help struggling dogs relax a little.

She designed a small, homemade hammock that was a hit in her dog grooming salon.

Brit told The Dodo:

I found a pattern on Pinterest and made it by hand, I used a ‘no-pilling’ fleece fabric that doesn’t stretch as much as regular fleece. It’s soft and comfy. Lots of dogs fall asleep on it!

After spending time in the hammock, dogs come to calm down and enjoy the time, allowing them to easily reach their paws, tails and other normally difficult places to work safely. It’s adorable how some even fall asleep in the process.

Brit also added:

It works by evenly distributing tension across the chest, abdomen and hips, and is therefore a great aid in supporting older dogs who find it difficult to stand for long periods of time, it’s also wonderful for dogs handicapped.

The pressure that the hammock exerts in the form of a hug on the chest of dogs is very similar to the function that anti-stress shirts perform.

It’s also great for dogs that don’t like having their nails done, like the Baxter the Shih Tzu, he can’t run around like he usually does, so I can calmly get him through his part the least favorite quick grooming to get back to her favorite part…treats and petting!

Pet comfort is the most important thing to Brit, she knows the hammock doesn’t work for all dogs, she usually uses it on 1 in 50 dogs she is around and no more than 5 minutes at a time. time.

Without a doubt, this woman loves her job and enjoys taking care of her clients.

Brit added:

I am passionate about educating clients and other groomers on safe techniques and putting the happiness of the dog above forcing them to go through grooming to achieve a perfect result, or as we like to say in the world of grooming, ‘humanity over vanity.’.
