Jason Belisha was in Decatur, Georgia returning a rental car after it broke down earlier this month. What this man did not imagine was that a negative situation such as his car could result in a beautiful meeting with a gray kitten now called Popeye.
Jason heard a desperate meow in the parking lot.
He told The Dodo:
“I looked left, right and finally under the car next to me, where I found the poor little guy soaked and all alone.”
Jason waved at the cat, and he didn’t hesitate to come closer, he rubbed his face with the man’s hand in the hope of receiving some love, and even if he hadn’t planned to rescue an animal that day, he knew he couldn’t leave it abandoned there.
He said:
“It’s times like this that I’m like, ‘This has to happen for a reason.’ And if I was a homeless kitten, I would want someone to help me.”
The man decided to change course and tell the rental agent that he would need the car for a few more hours to get Popeye to a shelter. Unfortunately, the shelter’s response was not as expected.
” They told me that since he was over 3 months old, they would put him back on the street where I found him because he could probably survive on his own. No thanks!”
The shelter gave Jason a cat box and Popeye wouldn’t part with it.
Jason explained:
“He kept screaming, except when I held him in my arms.”
Man gives homeless kitten a second chance
He came home with the cat, and she immediately started using the litter box, plus she had a cute bond with Belisha’s corgi named Goose.
” They were instant friends. It was like a miracle.”
Popeye gradually got used to living in the house, he liked to sleep next to Jason and Goose. Jason is a very busy man, he is a musician and a photographer, so he was aware that he couldn’t give this kitten the life he deserves any longer, so he decided to find someone for him.
Jason said:
“A dear friend of mine came over and told me he had a place for him if he couldn’t keep it. I jumped at the chance and brought him before I got too attached to him. If there were no other days, I would have become irrational!”
He said he didn’t want to say goodbye to his feline friend, but he knew it was the best decision he could make for the animal’s well-being. This man is aware of all the adventures that Popeye lives on a daily basis.
He said:
“It was a joy and a pleasure to have him with us. Goose and I will miss him very much, but he will always be near my friend’s house…and his new mom sends me messages all the time. videos, so I know he’s fine.”
