When Donnie was found missing and alone in a New York garden, he didn’t know what to do. Fortunately, someone came to his rescue and brought him to the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) in Brooklyn, but this sweet 62-pound pit bull knew he had more than his fair share: love! He wanted everyone around him to know that beneath all those muscles is a huge heart full of good feelings.
ACC volunteer Manisha Shah told The Dodo:
โSome of our biggest dogs are also the biggest and sweetest babies! it’s so soft they don’t realize their own size, or most people are probably scared of them! ยป

At first, Donnie was a bit apprehensive about his new surroundings. Over time, however, he began to feel more comfortable and quickly greeted everyone with a smile as they passed.
Manisha said:
โHe was a little scared and nervous coming in, which is completely understandable. However, it’s very special when a dog like Donnie trusts you.”
To help Donnie find a forever home, Manisha, of Boroughbred, Brooklyn, created an inspirational video for the Instagram account she runs that supports dogs at the Brooklyn Animal Care and Control Center.
Sweet, friendly dogs like Donnie often face an uphill battle to find loving homes. Unfortunately, pit bulls can wait three times longer than other breeds to find the perfect forever home, and that’s according to TIME magazine!
Donnie is currently in foster care, adjusting to the idea of having a real family. In time, this cuddly and soft giant will find his forever home, the one that appreciates his 62 lb!
