A cat and her babies were found on the streets and taken to the Best Friends Felines shelter in Brisbane, Australia, in order to offer them a second chance to get ahead. When they came to the care of the rescue center, the mother cat was still very fearful. before people, but little by little he managed to come out of his shell.
The devoted mother of the kittens slowly let her caregivers get closer to her and her babies; she received treats and some displays of affection and let out her sweet personality.
Nikki from Best Friends Felines told Love Meow:
Eleni (the cat) was very afraid of people when she first came into our care, but it only took her a few days, and now she is purring like a storm. As soon as she offers him a pat, she starts purring. She is also very trusting.
Kitten was alone until a cat accepted it
Around the same time a solitary kitten came to the care of the rescue center. The 4-week-old feline Flavian was in dire need of maternal love and care.
The foster mother tells:
They found him alone and handed him over to a veterinary clinic. He was very skinny when they handed him over to the vets. He made a call to see if a caregiver could help him. We thought we would see if Eleni would accept it, so that she could have a mother and siblings.
When the cat was presented with the little kitten, she slowly came over to sniff and check it, after a couple of licks, the adorable feline accepted it as one of her own.
Nikki added:
Eleni accepted Flavian immediately and she began preparing him from the moment they met.
Quickly the sweet Flavian became part of Eleni’s family, he enjoyed the company of his new mother and his 4 adoptive brothers, he loved hugs and always sought to be under the arms of the loving cat who seemed to know exactly what the little one needed. and did not abandon him at any time.
The shelter volunteer added:
Eleni adored flavian when she first arrived more than her own babies, so she made up for lost time with lots of baths and hugs.
The sweet kitties also seemed quite excited about their new family member and enjoyed fun play sessions and runs around the room.
Nikki relieved told:
He has been completely accepted and sleeps and plays with his new siblings and cuddles with Eleni, who takes care of him in return. He is eating completely by himself and is not interested in breastfeeding, so when Eleni’s other children are breastfeeding, Flavian often plays and then snuggles with his mother.
The sweet kitten is a week older than his adoptive siblings and has taken the leadership of the group; He is a very smart boy and as soon as he learned to use the sandbox, his adoptive siblings quickly followed his example.
Thanks to the foster care the whole kitten family has prospered and now they are ready to start a new chapter in their lives.
Nikki adds:
The five little ones enjoy running around the room and pouncing on Mama Eleni’s tail. They love to snuggle, both with people and with each other, and they often find themselves in big puddles of kittens all together around Eleni.
Flavian has thrived on the love of his new feline family and is a very happy boy. Nikki hopes that soon the kittens and their mother will find loving homes where they can be very happy forever.
