A couple who was traveling to various cities and places in Greece had a big surprise when a kitten ran up to them to become their new adventure companion.
Claire and Derek are a couple who travel around the world in their motorhome, and this time they were traveling through Greece.
One day, while enjoying the sunset on the beach, they encountered a somewhat unexpected visitor, a small kitten meowing for food.
The kitten comes running to ask for help
Claire told Love Meow:
“We were in Evia parked on a beach about 10 days ago, this little kitty came up to us. There were no other tourists around and the only local was an old man walking around.”
Apparently, the kitten approached the old man first and begged for something to eat, so he gave her some snacks. According to the gentleman, he did not believe that the little cat had a home, since most homes are vacations and were unoccupied.
After interviewing several people, they realized that no one was missing a cat at home and that it was a homeless child.
“It was obvious to us that the kitten had been left on the beach and would not survive another 24 hours without food, water and shelter.”
Over time, the little feline played with Claire’s feet and competed for her attention with lots of loving kisses and cuddles.
Within minutes, the sweet cat fell asleep in Claire’s arms and was carried to the car to rest. The couple decided to stay one more day in the hope that someone would claim it, but that didn’t happen.
Meanwhile, the friendly feline felt very comfortable in the car and quickly took on the role of the van’s safety cat.
“We couldn’t leave him; he was so small and he was so hungry. So we decided to take him with us on our travels. We call him Vangelis, Greek for Archangel.”
From this moment, Vangelis becomes the couple’s new travel companion and proves that he is an excellent traveler. He is not bothered by loud engine noises, drives long and ignores traffic noises, he is an amazing passenger.
The adorable kitty has also captured the hearts of many locals she meets on her travels, because wherever she goes, she brings a lot of joy. Recently, a Greek woman who observed the kitten fell in love with the little one and decided to come and offer her cat food and treats.
A few hours later, the woman decided to return, but this time she brought food for the couple, a bag of oranges and several eggs from her chickens.
“That’s what we found everywhere we traveled in Greece. These little acts of kindness from one ‘stranger’ to another really amaze me.”
Vangelis has become an expert traveler, almost always sleeping soundly while traveling with his humans, his large appetite remaining intact.
No doubt the kitten loves his new life, especially since he will no longer have to wander the streets to find food.
He now has two loving parents who care for him in every way and will provide him with a home for the rest of his life.
