While working in the park, Bruce came across a newborn kitten huddled among the fallen leaves. The animal was in dramatic condition. The man knew he couldn’t save his life alone. So he immediately took the little one to the veterinary clinic. There, specialists provided him with first aid, and then sought professional help. Volunteer Céline decided to take care of a newborn cat, even though the animal required a lot of attention. She had a difficult week ahead of her.
There was a suffering creature lying among the leaves
Bruce is responsible for maintaining one of Montreau’s parks. One day, while raking leaves, he noticed a small creature in the grass. It was a gray kitten. The man looked around carefully, but he did not see his mother or his brothers and sisters. So, he decided to take the dog to the nearest veterinary clinic. He knew such a young kitten needed professional care. In addition, the animal had at least several health problems: it was breathing with difficulty, its eyes were taped shut and one of its paws was covered with a strange coating.
Specialists from the veterinary clinic immediately provided first aid to the kitten. They named him Richard. It turned out that the little child suffered from malnutrition, colds, fungal infections and general weakness of the body. They knew someone with experience had to take care of him. Otherwise, he will have no chance of survival. So, they contacted a local homeless animal rescue organization, Chaton Orphelins Montréal.
The kitten fought every day
Volunteer Céline immediately agreed to help save Richard. The same day, she spoke with specialists at the clinic to get the kitten back. She received detailed information about her state of health. She knew that in addition to feeding him regularly, she would have to make sure he received his medicine. The priority was to fight against colds, eye infections and the ringworm that was developing on one of the hind legs.
Richard’s new caregiver began by getting his body into a hygienic state. After the bath, the kitten felt a little better.
The real challenge was feeding. At first, Richard had difficulty eating from a bottle, as much of the milk leaked onto his little body. Luckily, after a few days, he figured out how to eat to keep himself full. The animal had an immense will to live. Céline took little Richard everywhere she had to go. She couldn’t leave him alone at home for more than a few hours, because the dog had to eat very often to regain his lost strength. Fortunately, the volunteer’s efforts yielded satisfactory results.
Richard has transformed into a beautiful, confident kitten
After several weeks of hard volunteer work, Richard regained all his strength. There was no evidence of yeast infection, colds or eye infections. The kitten now has a huge appetite. He is also starting to show his character.
The dog does not hesitate to loudly demand attention when he thinks that Céline is waiting too long to feed. Additionally, he enjoys spending time with people and exploring his surroundings. The kitten will soon meet other representatives of its species, who will teach it to live among other animals.
