Teddy is a 5-month-old kitten who has an unmistakable feline expression on his face, and this feature gives him the appearance of an adorable old man. After his birth, he was transferred to The Odd Cat Sanctuary rescue center in Salem, Massachusetts (USA), to offer him the opportunity for a better life.
Tara Kay, founder of the Odd Cat Sanctuary, was contacted by an animal rescuer who had a litter of kittens at the time. Teddy, the little gray kitty stood out from the others. Her skin was unusually stretched and loose, which is very rare for a kitten who was only a few weeks old.
Tara specializes in cats and kittens with special needs, so she didn’t hesitate to take on this little guy’s case.
She told Love Meow:
“He knew he was special, he reached out and asked us to accept him. We agree.”
A kitten with a unique look is very happy

As soon as the kitten reached for the arms of a sanctuary volunteer, her purr motor immediately kicked into gear. Already settled into his new foster home, it was discovered that Teddy was born with a rare condition called feline cutaneous asthenia, known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which causes the skin to become fragile and stretched due to from a lack of collagen.

Tara says:
“His skin is paper-thin and can tear without warning. He needs a lot of special care for him, and we are ready for him to be healthy.”
The adorable 5-month-old kitten is the youngest feline with EDS. And you have already started a treatment to help you improve the quality and resistance of your skin. His wounds are already healing and he becomes a spoiled boy every time his guardians treat him.
Tara added:
“We’re planning to put nail covers on him and put a jumper on him (to prevent tearing). He’s started taking a collagen supplement and is on the mend.”

Teddy is a very sweet boy and has been purring since he arrived at the rescue center. like to get the attention of their caregivers between naps, playtime and mischief. Being pampered and cared for makes him the happiest kitten in the world.
Despite his droopy, sad eyes, this kitty is as happy as can be. Teddy is a very curious little boy and likes to run around the room recognizing every corner like any other kitten.

Tara says:
“He likes to play, cuddle up and loves his food. He has the best spirit regardless, and he’s very happy, grateful and purrs nonstop.”
