Four kittens barely 3 weeks old have been transferred to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. Lauren, one of the volunteers, took care of them and bottle-fed them to help them thrive.

Little kittens named Kylie, Kia, Kip and Kolbe, after every meal and having their little stomachs full, huddled together to purr and rest in their warm bed. Kylie and Kip were the youngest of the group; the little banner still demanded the attention of all who approached it.

Lauren told Love Meow:

“They were so happy and still purring. When he was hungry, he would climb onto your chest, put his face next to yours and let out a very long and prolonged cry.”

At 6 weeks old, Kylie still insisted on bottle feeding while her brother was a bit more independent and quite observant. Kip was always attentive to what his siblings were doing and then tried to emulate them, as he was the youngest of his siblings and had some health issues.

When Kip noticed that Kylie was snuggling up with the other kittens or with Lauren, he reached out and joined them in search of care and love.

Lauren knows that Kylie is a little anxious, so to help her, she tried different techniques.

She adds:

“The other day I wrapped Kylie in a burrito, a technique that can be very relaxing for anxious or scared kittens. Kylie immediately relaxed and fell asleep peacefully. All she wanted was to sit on my lap or give her a hug. Like the good little brother that he is, Kip climbed onto my legs and crossed my chest, then sat down right on top of Kylie’s burrito.”

From that moment on, Kip became Kylie’s inseparable mate and tried to snuggle up to her trying to give her some comfort. The little boy was trying to protect his sister.

Lauren added:

“Kip and Kylie have become good friends. They are both small and have sweet, mellow personalities that look great.”

Throughout their recovery process, these kittens remain strong through thick and thin. Combined with the extra medications and bottles, the kittens regained their health, gained weight and a lot of energy.

Thanks to Kylie’s love and support, Kip has finally grown into a very active cat. When they were old enough, Lauren knew that siblings needed a family that would love them both forever.

Lauren says these little ones have been through a lot and shown persistence, and they have the sweetest personalities around. It took them a while to get over their health issues, but they are definitely ready to move on.

Kittens take care of each other

Lauren excited for her foster kittens said:

“Kip was a little shorter than his brothers and he took his time to reach these developmental milestones. I will always remember his boundless confidence, his hilarious laughs and the way he looks at the world in awe. – literally with awe. Kylie was a wrinkled, short, anxious child who never lost sight of me, but grew into a beautiful woman with calm and growing confidence.”
