Robbie is an adorable little dog who for days waited outside the Dollar General Store in Houston, Texas, hoping someone would notice him. Sheltered under a plastic chair, he patiently watched as people entered and left the store.

Luckily for the little 4-legged man, a woman named Kristin Erwin noticed his presence and decided to help the dog. She usually supports rescue centers and after learning a bit about the little dog’s story, she knew she had to step in.

Kristin told The Dodo:

“I thought it was the cutest thing, with chubby little legs. It broke my heart when I heard it had been three weeks already.”

The woman decided to talk to some store employees to find out more about Robbie. They promised her that someone would come for the dog soon, but she wasn’t entirely convinced. In case no one came to pick him up, he decided to leave his phone number.

As she suspected, Kristin received a text from the store clerk shortly after. Apparently, no one showed up for the dog and Robbie needed help.

Kristin recalls:

“It was already getting dark, but I immediately ran to the Dollar General.”

With the help of the clerk and some delicious treats, they convinced the little dog to get into Kristin’s car on her own, and before long Robbie was safe in a loving home.

The woman provided a comfortable, quiet place for the dog to relax, believing at first he was scared from all his adjustments, but over time she recognized that Robbie was just a peaceful guy and docile.

The woman added:

“He was completely relaxed, eating and resting.”

With the support of Lola’s Lucky Day Rescue Center, Robbie was moved to a foster home, where he will remain until he is reunited with his forever family.

Robbie, who at one point didn’t know how his story would end, can now rest easy knowing that he will soon become a permanent and cherished member of a family.
