A woman from Hernando County, Florida, was troubled to see a 1-year-old Pitbull attached to the rear bumper of a high-speed truck by its collar.
The dog trailed helplessly as it was dragged by the truck driven by the dog’s owner. By the time the rope broke and the dog was released, it was bleeding severely and was suffering in many places.
The Pitbull, named Ollie, was rescued and taken to the Nature Coast Animal Health and Surgery Center. Its skin and skates were badly injured in many places. Since it had no fracture, its recovery seemed possible. But Ollie’s huge medical expenses became a concern.
Many residents intervened to donate for his hospital bills. A total of $ 4,000 was raised, which allowed Ollie’s recovery to become a possibility.
Meanwhile, investigators are looking for 58-year-old truck driver Gregory Tousignant. We wish Ollie a speedy recovery and hope that Gregory will soon be arrested and justice done.
Update: Gregory was found by the investigators. He would drive without a license and say he did not know that the dog had jumped off the bed of his truck.
The officers nevertheless argued that since the dog was not secure and attached to the truck’s bumper, it was sufficient to consider it as negligence.
An arrest warrant has been issued against Gregory for animal cruelty charges. He then accepted a plea agreement and spent 270 days in jail.
Do you think the sentence was enough for the pain he caused to Ollie?
