Alan Whitton, a 49-year-old from Woodford, England, never imagined he could be so excited to be reunited with his dog Mitzi, but it happened and moved an entire town.
The man had lost his pet and had been looking for them intensely for several days. The dog had disappeared after their joint morning walks. At first Alan thought the dog was in the area, but as the hours passed, he grew concerned and that’s when an intense search began with his family and friends.
A few days later, the good news arrived. The dog was found in a deep hole, which took over 10 minutes to dig. Whitton was initially hopeless, but when she saw Mitzi make it out alive, she couldn’t help but cry.
“I just cracked up, I was so shocked, but with joy and disbelief at the same time, I had started to lose hope. It was like a miracle of Christmas, the whole time it was like a nightmare that I don’t couldn’t wake up,” Alan said in an interview with local media. And then he added, “I feel beyond happy, he’s my great companion.”
He added that he was “so grateful and overwhelmed” by the solidarity shown by everyone who helped him find Mitzi. “The mere possibility of not having Mitzi here at Christmas, I didn’t even want to think about it, I didn’t want to think about it but it was likely, now everything is different,” he concluded.
