Unfortunately, not everyone who decides to take a stuffed animal under their roof is aware of the responsibilities associated with its upkeep. This leads to pets being abandoned days or weeks after they arrive home. There are cases of abandonment due to diarrhea, genetic diseases and even barking. Marcus had the misfortune to find guardians who had no intention of paying attention to him, in order to eliminate unwanted behavior, they preferred to get rid of the animal.
The owner tried to give the dog to the shelter because the dog was…barking!
Raising a dog is more than just teaching a puppy to defecate outdoors. In fact, it’s a challenge that every pet owner faces every day.
Marcus is a handsome black terrier type mongrel. A few weeks ago, he was lucky enough to have a real home. Everyone was delighted with this fact. Each animal rescued is a cause for great joy. Unfortunately, it turned out that Marcus’ happiness didn’t last long.
Five weeks after his adoption, his new owners contacted Lucie’s Animal Rescue, asking them to adopt him. After a short conversation, it turned out that the reason for this decision was that Marcus barked at dogs and people on walks.
Pooch caretakers admitted that they had not undertaken any training with professional support to eliminate the problem. They decided that Marcus was like that, and they didn’t want to accept it.
Lucie Holmes, founder of an association to help homeless animals, explained to me that it is not possible for the moment to adopt another dog but promised to contact me as soon as a place would break free.
The owner was ready for anything. He wanted to kill the dog
Lucie, just over two hours after speaking to Marcus’ owners, received a disturbing message from a friendly vet. The bastard was taken to the office with a request to put him to sleep!
Fortunately, the vet saw no reason for this. Euthanasia of animals should be a last resort, usually used in the case of very sick and suffering animals. There was nothing wrong with Marcus. He was just a very lively and emotional dog.
Lucie, immediately after receiving the shocking information, despite the large number of animals in need, contacted the owners of the dog and informed them that she was able to take care of Marcus. She was afraid that her “guardians” would do anything to get rid of the problem. She couldn’t let that happen at any cost.
The dog needed love and understanding
Marcus was very stressed right after his appearance in Lucie’s Animal Rescue. However, it only took him a few hours to make friends with new people and animals. It was obvious that he was in great need of tenderness and understanding.
He got everything he wanted. Turns out that was enough to make Marcus bark! Of course, it may be necessary to train the bastard under the supervision of a professional. However, Marcus is definitely not a dog who should end his life by euthanasia.
All you need is the company of a sensitive, patient man who will be willing to notice her problems and teach her polite behavior. Turns out, walking with a pet takes a bit of commitment. It’s worth knowing what to do to help your dog ease his emotions during daily travels.
