This is the story of Skye, a border collie who worked for 11 consecutive years as a mountain dog, completing around 200 searches. Now retired at 16, she was honored for her dedication and hard work, which saved many lives. And it is that he received the Order of Merit from the PDSA, an award that only the most devoted animals receive in the United Kingdom. Note that this dog has become the 16th animal to receive this award. Since the foundation of the charity in 2014 which recognizes the contribution of companion animals to society. Together with his comptroller, John Leadbetter, they were tasked with searching the vast mountains for missing persons.

Skye means everything to me; she is my best friend on the moors and we are partners for life. To see her receive the PDSA Order of Merit is a truly moving experience and a wonderful recognition of time and hard work that search dogs and their teams dedicate to mountain safety.
To operate in this manner, Sweet Skye began her entertainment as a pup with the Bowldand Pennine Mountain Rescue Team. Where he then qualified with the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dog Association in 2009.
Since then, he has devoted himself to carrying out all these jobs in the mountains, whatever the weather conditions or adversities, until his retirement at the age of 14. Now she lives with 16 years, in the house of John and his family, very quiet and very well maintained. It is certain that many people thank him for his work and so do we. There is no doubt that dogs are a wonder that we should cherish.
