The dog, named Big Mac, has been at the shelter for a long time and will finally start a family of its own.
Every day thousands of animals around the world are abandoned in the streets or in shelters. Although that number has declined over the years, the number is still quite high. Big Mac was one of the protagonists of the abandonment stories, but luckily he had a happy ending. The video was posted on Facebook.
The animal belonged to a young man who decided to leave it in December of last year at the McKamey Animal Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee (United States). Apparently the boy did not have time to take care of him and was going to move to another state. When he arrived at the shelter, the dog looked very nervous as he didn’t know the people around him.
When Big Mac arrived at the McKamey Animal Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, it was clear the puppy would have a long way to go to find a family.
The large dog was nervous with new people and did not do well in the shelter environment.
Lauren Mann, head of the shelter told The Dodo:
We don’t really know what his living environment was like before he came to us, but it was very obvious that he didn’t trust everyone right away.
However, thanks to the patience and care of those in charge of the animal house, Big Mac got used to his new life. Although he had been waiting for about a year to be adopted by a new family, an opportunity presented itself when one of the volunteers in the niche fell in love with him.
Mann added:
When my coworker brought the dog home, he slept about 12 hours straight. He really rested and adapted quickly because in his early days he wanted to play with his other furry fellow and even wanted to walk with the cats.
When Big Mac left the shelter to return to his new mom, Mann and his team gathered at the entrance to give the older resident a standing ovation as he exited the building for the last time.

His new mom was surprised that he handled it so well, which showed that little by little he was losing his fear of strangers.Top of Form.
