This dog named Riddick was thrown from a moving car and rescued in 2015 by Rescue Dogs Rock NYC. The team helped him in his recovery process, they put him up for adoption, and Bryan and his wife immediately fell in love with him when they saw his photo on Facebook.
The couple adopted him in August of the same year, becoming an incredibly important member of their little family.
Pit bull comforts a sick child
A year after Riddick’s adoption, his parents had a baby, and from the moment Dawson came home, Riddick and Cambria, the other pit bull in the family, were absolutely obsessed with him.
Bryan told The Dodo:
If the baby was crying, they would both run to see how he was. Every time he woke up from a nap, we would say, “Baby Dawson is awake,” and they would run. They have sat with us every night until today, we read them a bedtime story, Cambria usually on my lap and Riddick on the floor. Dawson kisses them good night and we put him to bed.
Dawson is obsessed with his Pit bull siblings, and he loves to hug them and help feed them whenever he can.
Recently the little boy had the flu; It was the first time he was really sick. He had a fever and generally felt terrible, and he didn’t want anything to do with anyone or anything except Riddick.
Bryan says his son walked over to Riddick’s ottoman and hugged him. The dog seemed to understand that the little boy was not feeling well and stayed in bed with him. Dawson fell asleep for over an hour and Riddick never moved.
Riddick was the only one Dawson wanted to comfort him when he was angry and sick with the flu, and of course, this loving pit bull was happy to please him.
No matter what Dawson needs, Riddick is always there for him, and his parents love to see how kind and protective Riddick is to his little brother.
He’s just kind, loving, and tolerant of everything. Everyone loves Riddick. This is the puppy you always want.
Even when Dawson is healthy and happy, Riddick is always there with him, caring for and loving him like only a canine sibling can.
